I highly recommend American Firearms Academy! The instructor was awesome! He is professional with a ton of gun knowledge. He made the class interesting and fun. I took the women’s Basic Pistol Class. I feel so much more confident and comfortable handling and shooting my gun after taking this class. I can’t wait to take the Enhanced Concealed Carry Class next!
My wife surprised me with a Valentines gift by enrolling both of us in a Enhanced Conceal Carry class taught by the professionals of American Firearms Academy. I phoned the owner, Mr. Klaus Hermann who picked up the phone and made himself available to questions asked and answered. The class was taught in a local business conference room that was conducive to a pleasant learning experience but only after we had enjoyed breakfast! Klaus has a very interesting background of serving in two different country armed forces and is a well qualified NRA certified instructor. All the required state elements were covered in attention to detail instruction, that would be eight hours of classroom time with ample breaks. Visual aids, power point presentation and handouts along with practical experience were the order of the day. The legal portion of the class by Trooper Ben was an eye opener to say the least, very informative and interesting. If you carry in Idaho, you want/need this class! For the novice, you will not be intimidated, the season pro, well you may just learn something new and rewarding. Range time was conducted at a local indoor range due in part to our seasonal weather. All class members were required to expel one hundred rounds at a target at various distances. Klaus who is a certified NRA range officer and instructor, was ever present and provided that individual instruction that took bullet strikes to center mass. Bottom line, a professional course of instruction that provided confidence in the conceal carry user, not just a means to legally carry.
I highly recommend this course to anyone that’s thinking about obtaining an ECCW (Enhanced Conceal Carry Weapon) permit. From marksmanship to the laws, this course will provide you with everything you need to know and become successful.
I attended American Firearms Academy's Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Class in order to obtain my ECCW. Already had the regular CCW, but needed the enhanced to travel to certain states. The course did exactly what it is required to do under Idaho law in order for the attendees to earn their ECCW certificate. Pros of the class was it's cost, small size (6 students) and the shooting portion was indoors (it was December). Realize this is a course run under the guidelines set forth by the state, so if you are an experienced shooter it will seem a bit long. But the state dictates it has to be a certain length and it cannot be shortened. Another excellent part of the course is the law portion where an Idaho State Police member briefed us on Idaho law and how it pertains to concealed weapons and personal defense. The main instructor did a very good job of making sure everybody understood the material and answered all questions. Highly recommend the American Firearms Academy ECCW course for anybody who is going to conceal carry for the law portion alone.
American Firearms Academy:
The instructors are very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all the questions we had. It was very well organized and you can tell the instructors are there because they want to be. Class time was not rushed and it was nice to have a class size that was personable. I would recommend this training to everyone and give them 5-Stars!
Val and I both enjoyed the class, both the classroom and range time. We both learned a lot from both yourself and Ben. The class did exactly what we wanted, to give us a firm understanding of when and why it was proper to use our weapons for our defense and of others. The small class size also meant more individual attention that was welcome.
We've already applied for our licenses and are now waiting the Sheriff to issue them.
Thanks again for everything and we can't recommend you enough.
I went into the class expecting a lot of people and a mono-toned instructor when it was just the opposite. American Firearms Academy Instructor Klaus was great, he doesn't just sit there and read off power points and go "that's it, time to shoot," which I was expecting. He thoroughly answered any questions you might have, even if the questions weren't related to the information being discussed. Klaus shared a lot of interesting and funny stories and wants to get to know you when a lot of teachers or instructors are just there strictly for business. Yes, at times the amount of material was a bit overwhelming, but with all the interaction, it didn't feel like an 8 hour class. At the shooting range, American Firearms Academy Instructor Klaus was very proactive and gave tips and tricks to help improve accuracy, like he was your private instructor. Even if you are a gun nut and know the ins and outs of guns or gun safety, I highly recommend this American Firearms Academy class to anyone looking to get their ECCW or furthering your knowledge. Overall the class was wonderful!
I very much enjoyed the ECCW course presented by American Firearms Academy's Instructor Klaus. I was an experienced handgun user prior to attending the class. I was pleasantly surprised that I learned many things that I did not previously know. The presentation on the pertinent laws by Ben from the Idaho State Police was very well done. American Firearms Instructor Klaus presented many things that I was not aware of re: the use and maintenance of a handgun. For example, I had never heard of the ammunition malfunction named a “squib load”. I highly recommend American Firearms Academy and Instructor Klaus and the ECCW class. Pete
Klaus, thank you for your excellent ECCW class in November. The class size allowed for attention to detail, as well as teaching the big picture. Your pacing of the class material throughout the day gave us plenty of time to ask many questions. The tips and encouragement from the experienced shooters to me as a beginning shooter was a valuable part of your class; I did not feel out of place at any time of the subject matter. The law portion was so well taught, and the Q & A filled quite a few holes in my knowledge. Thanks again for your timing that got us to Range Time at the end of the day on schedule, and your personal attention to every detail. I highly recommend Instructor Klaus and American Firearms Academy's ECCW class. Marsha
